Quality of Life Tracking for Local Government

Tracking change over time only works if samples stay representative.

Methodology

Mixed methodology (CATI + Online)

Study Overview

This long-running Quality of Life tracker combined CATI (n3,500) and online (n20,000) methods to measure experiences across a local authority area. The study included quotas on district, age, gender, ethnicity, tenure and socio-economic group, and has been delivered consistently for three years.

How We Delivered

As fieldwork progressed, quotas became increasingly interlocking. To manage this, sampling strategies were reviewed continuously, allowing adjustments that protected representativeness without extending timelines. Each wave ran over a two-month field period, producing a stable, comparable dataset that captures both population-wide trends and the views of less-heard groups.
